Amazing Solar Powered Homes

One of the first things that I did when I moved into my new home was start looking into my options for solar power. I’m a big believer in reducing dependence on natural resources that are unsustainable, and one of the best ways to do that is by using natural resources that are sustainable, like sunlight. I was thrilled to have my own home that I could customize with solar power. I found that there were all kinds of options for solar power besides those big clunky solar panels. I eventually settled on solar shingles for my roof, and I’m looking into solar powered windows, too. I started this blog to share more information about solar trends with people who are as interested in sustainable energy as I am. I hope to help you understand how contractors can help with these large projects!

Stick-Built: Your Best Option For A Custom Home

Purchasing a new home is one of the biggest decisions that you will make. The layout and design of the home will impact the day-to-day lives of your family for many years to come. Many families opt to invest in a custom home builder to ensure they have access to the features they desire.

There has been some debate over the benefits of manufactured homes in recent years. These pre-fabricated residences are often an affordable way to enjoy a brand new home. If you have a parcel of land you want to build on and some very specific ideas about the customization of your home, a stick-built property is a better option.

What is a stick-built home?

You may be unfamiliar with the term "stick-built" in relation to real estate. A home that is stick-built is essentially one that is constructed entirely on-site. Framing, roofing, and trusses are all erected by a crew of workers, and the project evolves as each piece of the home is put into place—literally stick by stick.

Are stick-built homes better?

It's difficult to say whether a manufactured or stick-built home is better. Each have their attractive qualities. What sets a stick-built home apart is your ability to fully control the design of your living space.

Manufactured homes are typically offered in pre-designed layouts. Minor alterations can be made, but you are limited to the confines of the modular design. With a stick-built home, you can easily make changes and add features to your home as the building process unfolds.

Families that have very specific needs when it comes to the construction of a home will typically find that a stick-built property offers more flexibility.

Are stick-built homes affordable?

Many people associate custom homes with high price tags. The fact of the matter is that you can build a fully customized home for your family without breaking the bank. Stick-built properties can often end up being cheaper than manufactured homes in the long run if you want to add special features to your living space.

Changes in the design of a manufactured home will require assembly line interruptions and architectural oversight. The cost of these services can quickly add up. With a stick-built home, changes made on the fly typically don't result in a significant increase in the overall price of the home. This makes it easier to keep the construction of a stick-built home within your initial budget.
