Amazing Solar Powered Homes

One of the first things that I did when I moved into my new home was start looking into my options for solar power. I’m a big believer in reducing dependence on natural resources that are unsustainable, and one of the best ways to do that is by using natural resources that are sustainable, like sunlight. I was thrilled to have my own home that I could customize with solar power. I found that there were all kinds of options for solar power besides those big clunky solar panels. I eventually settled on solar shingles for my roof, and I’m looking into solar powered windows, too. I started this blog to share more information about solar trends with people who are as interested in sustainable energy as I am. I hope to help you understand how contractors can help with these large projects!

Need More Space In Your Bathroom? Talk With A Contractor About These Dramatic Changes

If you're looking to make your small bathroom bigger, and you aren't sure what you can do, there are some changes you want to talk with a contractor about. You can invest a small amount of money into the space to get impactful changes, and to improve one of the most used areas in your house. You want to make changes that are going to help you actually gain space, or give the room the appearance that there is more space. Try these options.

Add Windows

Is it possible for you to enlarge a small window, or add a window in the space? If you have a one story home you should ask the contractor if you can add a skylight, and if there is no window you should look into having one put on an exterior wall. The natural light will open the space up, and make it so you don't have to depend on light bulbs. Any window that is bigger or adding an additional window to what is there will be a success.

Remove Shells

It doesn't matter if you can go without a tub, or if you still want to have a tub, if you get rid of a shell insert you can save a lot of space. Add a free standing tub to the bathroom and then have the shower head come out of the wall still into the tub to fill it up when needed. The free standing tub allows you to walk around it and conserves space. If you don't need a tub, use ceramic, porcelain or mosaic tile in place of where the shell was to create your showering space. This makes the bathing space much bigger and more modern.

Eliminate Bulky Cabinetry

Do you have wide and deep cabinets that take up a lot of bathroom? If so, remove the cabinets and look for a thinner option that will give you more walking room. You may be able to find a vanity that is much taller but thinner, so you don't lose storage space but get more room in the bathroom.

These are some easy things you can change with the help of a contractor, like one from Genuine Home Builders Inc, to remodel the bathroom into a more spacious and modern bath. The bathroom is an area that you use every day, so make changes you are personally going to enjoy when you use the space.
