Amazing Solar Powered Homes

One of the first things that I did when I moved into my new home was start looking into my options for solar power. I’m a big believer in reducing dependence on natural resources that are unsustainable, and one of the best ways to do that is by using natural resources that are sustainable, like sunlight. I was thrilled to have my own home that I could customize with solar power. I found that there were all kinds of options for solar power besides those big clunky solar panels. I eventually settled on solar shingles for my roof, and I’m looking into solar powered windows, too. I started this blog to share more information about solar trends with people who are as interested in sustainable energy as I am. I hope to help you understand how contractors can help with these large projects!

4 Benefits Of A Prefabricated Roof Truss

Are you getting a house constructed and have not decided on what you want the roof to look like? You might want to consider investing in a prefabricated truss for the roof, as there are numerous benefits that will be included with it. Take a look at this article to learn about a few of the advantages of opting for a prefabricated truss for your roof.

1. Speeds Up Roof Construction

The best thing about opting for a prefabricated truss is that it will make constructing your roof a faster process for contractors. Basically, the speed comes from the contractors not having to build it from scratch as they do with rafters. The truss will be brought to your home construction site in a single piece that will only have to be attached to the roof. The installation process can typically be done in one day.

2. Can Be Constructed from Several Materials

There are several different material options for truss construction, and they will all have their own benefits. A North Light Roof Truss is ideal if you want one that extends across a wide width. You will also find that a North Light Truss is durable because it is constructed out of steel. A Howe Truss is ideal if you want a lot of versatility when it comes to design, and it is also constructed out of both wood and steel. If you want to add more ventilation to your roof, you can consider getting a wooden Raised Heel Truss.

3. A Long Truss Does Not Require Load Bearing Walls

One of the perks of getting a prefabricated roof truss is that you won't have to worry about where it is placed on your roof. For instance, when rafters are constructed, it is important for them to be built over load bearing walls. However, a prefabricated truss can expand over a wide distance on the roof across areas that don't have loading bearing walls for support.

4. Labor Costs Will Be Affordable

Opting for a prefabricated truss is a good way to save money on the construction of your roof. The savings stem from the trusses being fabricated with shorter pieces of lumber than what is typically used for a conventional roof that has rafters. The shorter lumber is easier to assemble in a fabrication shop than the long pieces that are assembled directly on the roof to create rafters. Invest in one or more trusses for the roof of your new house as soon as you are ready.
