Amazing Solar Powered Homes

One of the first things that I did when I moved into my new home was start looking into my options for solar power. I’m a big believer in reducing dependence on natural resources that are unsustainable, and one of the best ways to do that is by using natural resources that are sustainable, like sunlight. I was thrilled to have my own home that I could customize with solar power. I found that there were all kinds of options for solar power besides those big clunky solar panels. I eventually settled on solar shingles for my roof, and I’m looking into solar powered windows, too. I started this blog to share more information about solar trends with people who are as interested in sustainable energy as I am. I hope to help you understand how contractors can help with these large projects!

Three Roofing Materials That Can Give Your Home A More Modern Design

If you want to have a home that has a modern design, the roof can have an impact on the appearance of your home. This is why you may want to use roofing materials other than asphalt shingles. These materials can be things like standing seam metal roofing, synthetic tiles and roofing with solar energy integrated into them. If you want to have roofing with a modern look, here are some of the options that you may want to consider for new roofing for your home:

1. Using Metal Roofing In A Modern Home Design

Metal roofing is a great choice of material to give your home a modern roof design. These materials can be standing seam systems, which will last for many years and not need any repairs or maintenance. With a lighter color and a good underlayment, these roofing materials can also be a good energy efficient solution for the roof on your home.  Metal is also a very durable material, which can last for generations without ever needing to be replaced.

2. Modern Roofing Systems With Solar Energy Integration

If you want your home to be more modern, you may want to have green energy solutions. This can include solar energy to power your home. Many modern roofing materials can have the solar panels integrated into the roofing. These can come in styles that resemble shingles and tiles. With an integrated solar roofing system, you will also have a low-profile solar energy solution, which can be an attractive addition to your home.

3. Synthetic Roofing Materials For A Modern Roof With A Classic Look

There are also many synthetic roofing materials that can be used in your modern roof design. These can be materials like synthetic slate or shakes. They also come in various sizes, and will give your home a classic look with modern materials. Another benefit of using these materials on your home is that they will cost a lot less than real slate, shake or tile materials.  These are also commonly made out of recycled materials, which make them a great choice for a green roof for your home.

These are some of the roofing materials that you can use to give your home a more modern design. If you need to have a roof installed on your home, contact a roofing contractor like Economy Roofing and ask them about using some of these modern materials for your new roof.
